To notify a parent, student, and advisor of a student's assignment status, follow this process:
1. Visit the gradebook for the class.
2. Click on the score entry field for the student and then the magnifying glass.
Alternatively, you can click on the assignment, then Student Scores, then choose the student.
This will take you to the "grade inspector" for that selected student and assignment.
3. From this screen, you can
Adjust dropbox status:
Closed = The student cannot submit an assignment through the Dropbox feature. (gray flag)
Expecting = The student can submit an assignment through the Dropbox feature. (orange flag)
Received = You are acknowledging you have received the assignment. (green flag)
Compose a private note:
This note will be visible only to you. Students, parents, and advisors will not see this note.
Provide feedback for student:
This feedback will be visible to students and parents when they visit the assignment on their class/assignments page.
You can attach files to the feedback (such as a rubric or a corrected worksheet).
You must click "Post Feedback" to save this.
Once saved, it is displayed with a time stamp, visible on this page.
Students can respond to this feedback. Their responses will show under your feedback.
You can delete your feedback once posted by clicking a small, red delete button.
The notification banner is explained in the next section.
Notify student, parents, and advisors
When you click the appropriate button, Veracross will draft a short email with information about the assignment to the indicated party.
A yellow notification banner will be present in the student feedback area to alert you that this email has been sent. This is a permanent banner. You can see it in the image above.
This information will include:
class name
assignment name
assignment type
due date
assignment status (completed, incomplete, pending, not turned in, late, etc.)
assignment score
This is the content of an email notification:
If a parent clicks on the link for the Parent Portal, they will see this information and any feedback you post. They will not, however, see the score there.
